140 YEARS THEN & NOW
To mark the anniversary, we are taking a retrospective look at 140 years of textile history. Since its founding in 1884, HANRO has accompanied the spirit of the times with underwear collections. This has resulted in iconic ranges that reflect the lifestyle of generations and characterise the brand yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The company archive in Liestal served as a source of inspiration for the designers, in which valuable, historical pieces from the old HANRO collection have been collected over the last 140 years. The anniversary styles were staged using old campaign images.
Inspired by a HANRO style from the 90s and the campaign shoot of the time, the anniversary series 'Pierre' embodies the modern retro look.
The anniversary collection 'Hedy' celebrates the logo trend in the clean design signature typical of HANRO.
The 'Madeleine' loungewear collection was based on a campaign shoot from the 90s.
The 'Simone' anniversary collection was inspired by a bestseller from the 80s. The semi-transparency breaks up the typical, clean cut and lends the styles timeless elegance.
The retro-inspired 'Carl' series is a tribute to company founder Carl Ronus, who, together with Albert Handschin, also offered comfortable and presentable men's underwear from the 1920s onwards.
Inspired by swimwear and a campaign shoot from the 1940s, the anniversary collection 'Marilyn' presents sensual lingerie with lace.
Then and now: Despite the large time span, the similarity of the campaign shoots can be recognised.
